Privet Hedging (Ligustrum ovalifolium)

Ligustrum ovalifolium also known as a privet hedge is common hedge in the UK. Its a hardy evergreen hedge, however some leaves may drop throughout the winter if it is a cold winter. It has a small oval shaped green leaf and if left unpruned it will produce a white flower in the summer months followed on by black berries. It is perfect to form a dense hedge for privacy

Ligustrum ovalifolium is a hardy shrub but likes to be planted in moist but well drained soil and placed in full sun or partial shade. It grows around 20-40cm per year and will need maintaining throughout the year to keep your hedge in shape, however privets can take a hard cut back in the winter months. We recommend to plant 3-6 per metre depending on the initial density you desire.
